A serene bedroom retreat - Shop the Look
In today’s fast-paced world, the bedroom should serve as more than just a place to sleep—it should be a serene retreat that offers comfort and tranquility. As an interior designer here in Nelson, BC, my goal is to help you transform your bedroom into a sanctuary where you can unwind and rejuvenate. Let’s see what makes this designs timeless and elegant.
Let’s start with colour! The color palette is crucial in creating a serene atmosphere. Here, we use a mix of grey, soft blues, and creams, with black and copper accents. This palette is both calming and modern, providing a neutral backdrop that allows the room’s features to stand out. The soft blues and creams add warmth, while the black and copper accents introduce depth and interest.
The bed is undoubtedly the centerpiece of any bedroom. For this retreat I choose a low, tufted headboard in a light textural grey, paired with a simple gunmetal iron base. This combination not only adds a touch of elegance but I love how the dark legs contrasts against the dreamy, soft colours of the rug. The tufted headboard design offers a soft, cushioned surface perfect for leaning back with a good book.

Flanking the bed are black nightstands, these are covered in black lacquered linen and the champagne metal detailing on the drawers are so beautiful. This champagne colour is repeated in the base of the nightstands, giving it an airy base.

Art can greatly influence the ambiance of a room. In this retreat, we feature "A Picturesque View Of The Oregon Shoreline," framed in naturally finished pine wood. This piece not only adds a touch of natural beauty but also complements the room’s color palette, enhancing the serene and calming atmosphere.
The table lamp is more than just a source of light; it’s a piece of art. The Hyson Table Lamp, a composition of natural horn and wood, combines modern and ethnic aesthetics. I just love the the graining in the natural wood and the texture of the chiseled bone, along with the highly textured natural linen drum shade. This lamp adds so much warmth and texture to the room, enhancing its overall appeal.
